Cutting CO2: one of our most important objectives

Through innovative materials, we are already reducing CO2 in material manufacture.

We pursue a holistic approach to effectively reduce CO2 emissionen: we constantly expand our efforts, both on the product side and with regard to the operating processes, to the entire marketing and sales, and to collaboration in sustainability initiatives. We carry out research into innovative materials made from superpolymers to reduce the need to use plastics in the production process, while keeping quality constant. Through certificates we compensate for emissions that we cannot avoid, and we obtain advice from experts to constantly improve our company. We present our endeavours in detail below.

CO2-neutral thanks to super-polymers.

With the help of recycled films with a reduced thickness, the quantity of material used to manufacture the "Superheroes" garbage bags by DEISS has been reduced by 30 percent. Thanks to the use of ultra-modern super-polymers, we have thus been able to reduce CO2 emissions in our manufacturing, without impairing the bags' resistance to tearing. Our innovative material research thus helps us top implement our vision for sustainable single-use products. For in order to make the "Superheroes" completely climate-neutralised, the CO2 emissions from the remaining material are compensated for with climate certificates.

We are reducing emissions as part of our daily business operations

We have replaced the entire company fleet used by our sales representatives with modern hybrid cars, in order to keep our CO2 emissions as low as possible, from manufacture to delivery. In addition, our employees are entitled to subsidised tickets for local public transport, as well as free rental bikes. In the long term, we hope to develop a system for the transparent assessment of our entire incoming and outgoing logistics, which will allow us to optimise our processes in a targeted manner.

We draw on external expert knowledge

In order to measure the environmental impact of the SUND Group, we had the CO2 footprint of the company and the products calculated. For the first time, we are also calculating the environmental footprint of our gloves, comparing that of products make from latex with those made from nitrile, in order to realise our sustainability goals. Here the SUND Group is drawing on the expert knowledge of initiatives such as the Alliance for Development and Climate, and we are compensating for CO2 emissions with the help of Climate Extenders.
