DEISS sponsors climate-neutral trash bags for "Hamburg räumt auf!"

31 March 2021

"Hamburg räumt auf!" is Germany's biggest cleaning campaign. From September 10 to 19, associations, school classes, clubs and groups of friends will be helping to make Hamburg clean again. During the campaign week, there are numerous events as well as material and experience prizes for the participants. DEISS supports the campaign as the main sponsor and provides environmentally friendly garbage bags.

Every year, "Hamburg räumt auf!" (Hamburg cleans up) takes place in the Hanseatic city: In 2019, the joint campaign by Stadtreinigung Hamburg, the Ministry for the Environment, Climate, Energy and Agriculture and NABU found more than 80,000 participants collecting a total of 170 tons of trash. Parks, green spaces and other urban areas thus became clean again in Hamburg.

This year, numerous exciting activities await participants during "Hamburg räumt auf!": There will be a diving event and stand-up paddling on the Alster, and plogging - picking up trash while jogging - is also planned in the city park. Among all clean-up teams, Stadtreinigung will raffle off numerous material and experience prizes.

DEISS has been the main sponsor of "Hamburg räumt auf!" for 14 years and this year, for the first time, is providing climate-neutral trash bags. "As a Hamburg company, we are very attached to the Hanseatic city and think it's great that so many people take care of Hamburg's cleanliness every year. We provide for 'Hamburg räumt auf!' garbage bags that, thanks to innovative production steps, already emit less CO2 in the manufacturing process, and we offset the remaining emissions. This way, we can add another environmentally friendly aspect to the campaign with climate-neutral trash bags. We would already like to express our thanks to all those who helped and are looking forward to great events during this year's campaign week," says Clemens Eichler, Managing Director of DEISS.
